Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Henares wished boxing icon and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao good luck and advised him not to think of her during the match.
In a televised press conference on Thursday, Henares said she hopes that Pacquiao will able to succeed against WBO Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, adding that she should be the least of Pacquiao’s concerns.
“He should concentrate on his fight with Bradley. I hope he wins,” Henares said.
“Don’t think of me,” she added.
Henares said she hopes Pacquiao has already learned his lesson from the past incident and would immediately declare and pay his taxes.
Last year, the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) ordered Pacquiao’s bank deposits frozen over a P2.2-billion tax case filed by BIR, which required the boxing champion to show proofs that he already paid his taxes in the USA. What followed was a bitter exchange of remarks between Pacquiao and Henares which prompted the CTA to issue both a gag order to stop them from publicly arguing about the case.
