Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command Spokesperson Captain Rowena Muyuela said that five Abu Sayyaf Group members died in a clash. In a “firefight between government forces and terrorist ASG at Unkaya Pukan and Tipo-Tipo boundary in Basilan Province the enemies suffered five killed and several others wounded.” Philippine Armed Forces was battling against the rebels in the said area since Friday, April 11, 2014. On the government side, two soldiers died and twenty-eight were wounded.
According to 104th Brigade Commander, General Carlito Galvez this operation is to capture Abu Sayyaf commander Puruji Indama. Operation against Indama’s group who are now occupying school buildings is still ongoing.
