Rains in Visayas as LPA lingers

MANILA – Moderate to heavy rains are expected over the Visayas as the low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of the Philippines remained almost stationary.

PAGASA forecaster Connie Rose Dadivas said the LPA, which was spotted 80 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 4 a.m. Wednesday, will bring moderate to heavy rains over Visayas until Friday.

Dadivas said the entire country should experience improved weather as the LPA is expected to dissipate in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA said Visayas will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Bicol Region, Caraga and the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Misamis Oriental will experience cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
